Wow ! Is anyone really shocked ? Chief Beck's "Sunday Promise" was his attempt to mollify two hard working women, and put a sympathetic spin on his officers' multiple mistakes. "Oops. Sorry we almost killed you by shooting up your truck with 107 rounds. But we'll get you a new truck so you can continue delivering papers at 4am." Really ? In the end, these two ladies will settle out of court, buy two huge homes, luxury vacation properties, several new trucks (one for each family member), and never have to work another day in their lives. And the good citizens of L.A. will again foot the bill for a lack of training, tactics, and leadership. I'm glad they didn't take the Ford. The Ford would die after 100,000K. A Tacoma would just keep going and going and going.

Honestly I don't think it's about training or tactics. To me it's about attitude. The IDGAF about the citizens attitude.

Honestly I don't think it's about training or tactics. To me it's about attitude. The IDGAF about the citizens attitude. To a certain degree, I would agree. Then we can look at it this way: IDGAF attitude + no ongoing training + no tactics + uncontrolled fear + no leadership = 107 rounds shot into the vehicle w/o justification. Speaking of attitude, look at this story. Officer Claims Cops Sell LAPD Guns to Civilians and Dealers www.courthousenews.com/2013/02/25/55123.htm

The officers involved will be put on Paid Administrative Leave. A reprimand put on their "employee's record" and eventually put back on the job. Unfortunately these 2 innocent women will be classified as Collateral Damage. On a side note. Didnt the US abandon the "Spray n Pray" doctrine after 'Nam? You were right. Spoke with my LAPD neighbor this afternoon and asked about the shooting investigation. All seven officers involved are either back at work, or soon will be. Mitigating circumstances was used by the department as the rationale. Beck called the shooting "a tragic misinterpretation" by officers working under "incredible tension." Amazing ! Isn't "working under incredible tension" what they're trained to do ? The city is negotiating and settling with all residents impacted by the Torrance shooting. The women who were injured, received a $40,000 cash settlement for compensation for their truck. This is separate from any other settlement they will likely receive.
