It's called a mitznefet. The soldiers make them themselves out of old camo netting. The idea is to break up the silhouette of the head so that if they are lying down somewhere in the field, you don't see the typical outline of a helmet, just some irregular blobs. Usually typical IDF camo net is woodland on one side and desert on the other so it can be quickly reversed. Second photo is more recent camo pattern. ^^^ Are there alot of blacks in Isreal? Just wondering.

They should reverse it to blend in better. They are probably conducting some type of exercise/training in a dry region, but are deployed in the north where it is greener.
There are people of all races there. The ones in the photo are Ethiopian Jews.
