This an informal, unofficial training meet up. Saturday 5/11 @ 9am @ Leo Carillo State Park Campground in Malibu I will reserve a camp site so we have a place where we can work with fire safely and legally. Work on your wilderness skills. (Fire, knife, axe, rope, identifying flora & fauna, first aid, you name it) bushcraftusa.com/forum/showthread.php/27234-Bushclass-IndexEach one teach one. I will only stick around for half a day, but Leo Carillo is a great spot to enjoy the outdoors.

Thanks for trying to arrange something. I'm teaching on 11 May @ Raahagues so if you do reschedule I hope I'm free.

Cool Stan, I'll look over your schedule for a good date. BTW, Calguns is having their survival meet up on 18 May in Walnut IIRC. Theirs is more BBQ centric where as yours is more skills centric, either way I can adapt to win in either environment.

I might check it out if I'm in the area. I like the concept of "skills". If you have skills, you can take them with you anywhere. I also like the concept of BBQ however.
Btw, I have been watching a lot of Ray Mears on Youtube. His survival series is pretty amazing. He mixes survival training with history, anthropology - you name it. He also mixes the modern and the primitive.

Thanks for the great idea. Perhaps we can do it another time. Perhaps we can mix your idea with some training with Stan in a spot in the desert Stan knows of. An overnighter ? +100 % on Ray Mears.

That would be fun.
BTW, I've watched a few more episodes of "Extreme Survival" and the survivors they interview and tell the stories of are absolutely amazing - downed US pilots who hid out in the jungles of Vietnam, people who were lost in the Sahara, passengers of a ship that was marooned in Alaska in January for a month...

Stan, What do you think ? Do you know of a place out in the desert we could do this ? And definitely before it gets too hot.

Does it have to be out in the desert? There's a nice arroyo in La Canada/Flintridge where I took my first Nyerges class that is very nice. Stan Thanks for the great idea. Unless we want a SWAT Team (or two) joining us, Hahamongna Watershed Park wouldn't be the best place. What was your thinking on what we could do ?
