Since some of us are from San Diego, and the drive is about 2 hours one direction, I was wondering if anyone would like to get together and figure out some classes we could take together and therefore carpool...

Also, if you someone down there knows of a range we could use and there are enough San Diegans I would go down there as well. I just remember there not being too many ranges to use.

Thanks for posting.

Stan
I know a few calgunners rented out the outdoor range at P2K before. Regardless if you ever do run classes down here, I know a bunch of friends would love to try it out.

Stan, there are several outdoor ranges down here that could work, but most of them are member only type joints.
1. Escondido Fish and Game - members - they hold a steel shooting pistol challenge once a month where membership is not required 2. South Bay Rod and Gun - - members 3. Lemon Grove Gun Club - members - They hold a steel shooting pistol challenge once a month where membership is not required 4. Project 2000 - This is one of the only two really good ranges in San Diego County open to the public (my opinion). There is a class coming up in July, but it is relatively expensive. I think they are doing larger class sizes, too. Range rental is assumed to be high cost??? Very popular location. 5. Pala - they host steel shooting competitions, and 3 gun. I haven't been out there, but it looks like a similar range to that at Angeles. The competitions look cool from the vids I've seen.
I don't know what the results would be, but it may be interesting to call up the member type ranges and pitch that it would introduce new people to their range which would increase their memberships. Don't know if they would be interested or not.

It was run (overly) tight with an RSO/volunteer even on weekends. No holster work. No pistol targets closer than 15m. I don't think that will work. This must have been the least "fun" range I've ever shot on.

I talked about it today with a guy that used to shotgun there frequently and he said close to the same thing. I've shot a handgun comp there once and a few rounds of trap. Couple styles of folken. Tightly wound or mellow but not much in between. Handgun comp was all steel targets so I could understand the 15m rule. Was it the same or was it 15m from paper? That'd be a little silly.

Doesn't Ironsights rent out it's range? But that is indoor...
I'm just having a hard time finding the ability to drive up 2+ hours and then down 2+ hours. Got a new gun that I really want to run through the Surefire course, but I just can't figure out the logistics.

i recently tried to host a pistol class at P2K range but was informed that because of noise complaints from the expanding neighborhood they would no longer allow them
Its a shame that we aren't using Pala...2 hour drive makes it a bit tougher from San Diego
