Trained with Stan and a group of great people on Saturday (Shotgun 101). Learned a great deal, especially about ammo. I used Winchester Super X 00 2 3/4, Winchester Military Grade 00 2 3/4, and Federal 2 3/4 # 7 1/2. Another student let me try his ammo, Federal LE13200 Tactical Flitecontrol Low Recoil. He had little or no spread pattern. At several distances, I thought he was using slugs instead of 00 buck. Did some research this morning. The Winchester Super X 00 and the Winchester Military Grade are exactly the same. The only differences are the hull and cost. MG hull is OD green and costs a little more. They both have no shot cup and paper wads. Winchester sells these because they're over runs from military contracts. One tester stated: "The Federal is much better made. It has a plastic shot cup, plastic wad, sand-like buffering, and the pellets are harder." That's why the target looked like a slug hit it. The plastic shot cup definitely makes a huge difference. Take a look. www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=224340&hilit=MG+BuckDoes anyone have another suggestion ? Thanks Stan for another great day of training.
