Good point Stan made when he said we're only functioning at 50% when under stress.. even with training. So train even harder to overcome the other 50%. Good video..check it out:

You're right but that vid was pure anti ccw propaganda.

A couple thoughts:
I feel that their test subjects were very slanted, not a single one had any actual CCW experience, even the guy who played airsoft. You had a bunch of novices, they gave a 10 minute class and said, "Here's your gun."
The only thing this proved was that a firearm + no training + no mindset = nothing.
Someone who is actually trained and wearing proper CCW attire (coat or vest vs T-shirt and quality holster) would undoubtedly do better.

Too bad they didn't put out a casting call in our forum. That would have been fun.

There is some truth to that. So many gun owners I know do not train with their weapon. It is more like a tool that needs to be take out once every few months or annually to make sure it works...:-( At the end of the day, I know that I can only hump with a limited amount of gear and ammo. These "novices" will be my reloading stations when I am running low.

It is our responsibility to be proficient with our weapon system. I am thankful that I have friends and Tasc that helped my development but its on me to continuously train what I have learned and make it my own.

The only truth that came from that video was that you have to train, our skills will be lost over time if we don't train. The rest was hogwash propaganda.

My suggestion is to bring in some realism to your training. how will you perform when someone is shooting back at you? Have you experience the sudden rush of adrenaline when your scared. How would you perform when your kids are with you. These were some of my personal training experiences that brought some humbling results which was the catalyst to seek additional training and continuous practice so that I'm able to perform under extreme stress. Even in LE, there are clear example of incompetence like the shooting incident in woodland hills. Over 100+ rounds and only ~10 actual hits. Most folks wont go this far to find answers but not when you have OCD... :-)
