Right on 100% You know, across the DOD we are required to take a terrorism awareness self-educated program every year. In it there is a hypothetical situation where you get captured and what should you do. The "correct" answer (according to the program) is to go along with the captors which flies in the face of what happend on 9/11. I think what we learned post 9/11 is to not give in to the terrorists because they were going to crash the planes anyways. |

What do you think was the key to instilling the never quit attitude in your men ? Some people have told me it's something that can't be developed. They believe that you have the mindset or you don't. |

So whichever council who supervises that program went with the idea that you may make the situation worse by being a "hero". I understand this. Kind of like the bank hostage scenario. In the Terrorism Awareness training, you are a DOD member at a hotel and you get taken hostage and then finally you get rescued by ninjas with MP-5s. The boot camp ethos is to always fight and never surrender but that doesn't account in case you get wounded or knocked unconscious. |

Good read. I rather die fighting and possibly save a life and make a difference than surrender and fail those (family, children, elderly, unable to defend) who relied on good people to resist evil.
